Van has been going to the Dentist for a little over a year now! His first dentist appointment was a year ago before Christmas, at that appointment it was easy peasy just counted his teeth and got him used to some tools:) He seemed to really enjoy it, he is usually AMAZING when it comes to any kind of appointment or check up I think he loves all the attention ;) then he had another appointment about a month later where they cleaned his teeth and the Dr said his teeth looked great but she could see braces in his future because they are very close together ( I already expected that, Chad and I both have awful teeth! Sorry boys!) He has since then been going regularly and his last appointment, a week ago, they found "sugar bugs" or what us adults call them a "cavity" on one of his back molars! UGH maaan! I was really hoping to avoid this situation at least until second grade or something ;) at first I was shocked because I am not a big juice giver to the boys or fruit snacks either .. BUT then again I do give him milk for bedtime most nights (after brushing teeth) and I know that is not great for teeth either! (bad mother I know ;)) Anyways he has one and we got it filled today, he was excited to go back and again sat up like such a big boy listening to everything they were telling him...open big, stick out your tongue ect...:) Then they numbed up his mouth and started doing there thing...well he was brave at first but soon I saw him pushing away and kind of whimpering, of course I hated it, they took a break and let him relax and began a minute later again .. he was fine but again started to whimper and pull away about a minute into it. They got through the drilling, but then needed to fill it with the gel and at this point he was not letting them suction and trying to sit up like "im out of here!" but again they got him to relax (really he was great still..no tears just a little fear on his face) they finished up and he was happy as a clam again and we got to go to the treasure chest! :) He picked a sponge bob bouncy ball!
Overall I think it went pretty well (I know plenty of adults who would have been shaking just cuz of the shot ;) lol) I just really hope he doesn't remember he was a little afraid of the drill and its hectic to get him to the dentist now!
