Unfortunatly yes, Van may have a possible yeast infection. Before leaving the hospital the nurse told me to keep an eye out for one because I was on antibiotics while pregnant :( When changing his diaper I noticed a thick whiteness between his legs a while back but didn't think anything of it because I thought it was just from the diaper rash ointment..buut lastnight I was changing his diaper and noticed that same white stuff on the head of his poor penis and this time there was an odor. So we have an appointment tomorrow to find out if our little boy has a yeast infection :( which means which means medicine and we found out he doesn't do good with that, he spits it up or chokes\gags on it!
BUT on the plus side we will get to see how much our little booger weighs!! Yippee!!
Poor little Van. Be sure to ask the doc about thrush (http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/oral-thrush/DS00408). Nursing babies and moms can just keep passing it back and forth to each other and it causes trouble with nursing. Avery & I dealt with this some early on. (Hopefully, you won't have to deal with it, but I'd recommend asking about it.)
ReplyDeleteThey usually give Makenna a topical ointment for her yeast infections...she has only been treated orally twice and she has had about as many yeast infections as she is months old! So hopefully that will be all they give him...also-the oral stuff they gave her when she was a new baby, she was in love with. We actually would wait to give it to her until she was getting crabby because it always made her happy!
ReplyDeleteWhat'd you end up getting? Grady just got a good ointment for it which cleared it up before needing antibiotics.
ReplyDeleteAgreed with Emily...you might want to think about treating yourself for it if you're treating Van. Watch for it in his mouth especially!
